Exploring the Motherland!

Day 1: July 29, DUBLIN!

What are we excited for?!?!?!?

Trying to navigate the city with no sleep..zzzz....

Dublin is one of the places I have never been, but wanted to go badly when I was living in Barcelona previously. Blythe on the other hand is seeing all these cities for the first time! Everything went smoothly getting here, we arrived to Dublin 520am. Nothing was open, therefore, we were concerned no one lived in Dublin.... no worries a few hours later the city was popping with plenty of activity!

Our hostel was 2 buildings down from the famous Temple Bar!

We stumbled upon our hostel by chance, since we didn't have a proper map. We dropped off our bags in a small storage closet, but couldn't check in until the afternoon. Therefore, we had a full day of exploring and sightseeing!

July 30, 2015- The Edge of the World!

Today was packed full with a tour to the Cliffs of Moher. We jumped on a huge couch bus at 630am and took off. Our tour guide was a short, red headed Irish leprechaun looking man. He was hilarious and an excellent tour guide- very flirty with the older ladies.

The Cliffs were breath-taking, pictures do not do justice. It is very scary how close you can get to the cliffs and how people jumped over the 'safety' fence to get even closer to the ledge. We had wonderful weather full of sunshine and blue skies and while is rained multiple times during the day, our tour guide had prefect timing of when we were walking around and when we were driving.

The countryside is lovely, cows EVERYWHERE! And remains of castle towers everywhere you turn, it was bizarre because our guide would say, "to the right a 19th century castle tower, right next to cows just laying around'...

On the way back to Dublin, we stopped by the Clare Abbey. Founded in 1195, there were multiple graves within the ruined abbey because it was sacred grounds and it was a privilege to be buried on holy ground.

Scooters, Scooters EVERYWHERE!!

We arrived in Ho Chi Minh and what a drastic change it was from Siem Reap. There were so many people, cars and motorbikes. I really enjoyed and laid back feel of Siem Reap; now time for a busy city. We grabbed a taxi and headed to District 1. Our hostel was located right in the middle of the restaurant and bar district. Once we dropped our bags off at the hostel we walked down the main street and grabbed a coffee at a local egg coffe shop. After the Vietnam War there was a shortage of milk, so the Vietnamese started using egg in their coffee. It was delicious! It was a creamy, frothy texture and did not taste like egg. It came to be a favorite coffee place; even for Amber who is a tea-aholic! For dinner we went to a Pho soup place- it was savory and very filling. I am still going strong on my soup kick. When continued to explore District 1 and grabbed a few drinks before calling it a night. The next day we wandered around the local market; you could literally buy anything y...

First Stop of the Southeast Asia Tour- Singapore

I have always been interested in Southeast Asia, but never thought I would have the chance to go. I went to Europe on my own, but I felt this trip I needed some travel buddies. When I first met Gina in Hawaii she mentioned going to Thailand after the assignment. Well, that interest is becoming a reality. Gina, Amber and myself are doing a trip through Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. Amber is a fellow travel nurse that also has a passion, for well, travel. Getting to Singapore was a daunting thought- 24 hours on a plane. But it actually was not that bad, All Nippon Airways was great! They had comfy seating, excellent entertainment, surprisely good food and very nice flight attendants. Burger patty, rice, carrots; salad; noodle soup; antipasto; spinach and chicken salad; vanilla ice cream I landed in Singapore around 11:30pm, so I decided to just grab a hotel and shower and get some rest. It was a very charming hotel, that was previously an Opera H...

Ciao from the city of canals and hidden streets!

August 7, 2015 Venice- It was an obstacle to get to you! From Paris we walked to the metro, took the metro to the bus, took the bus to the airport, took a plane to Venice airport, took a bus to the city centre and then walked to our accommodation.   When we arrived it was very very warm, 95 degrees! Such a change from chilly, damp Dublin. We had a bit of a journey finding our next AirBnB place; something I didn't know was the streets on Googlemaps don't really match what is truly here. So we wondered around for a while until we had to ask for help. We stopped at this very nice hotel and the staff there were amazing. They helped us call the owner of the apartment we were staying at and walked with us to ensure we got there safely. This local man working at the hotel did not have an idea where the apartment was, so it took awhile, but we found it! We probably would not have found it without his help. When we arrived at the apartment, it wasn't exactly what w...
