Back to the Motherland and then back to America!!!

August 16, 2015.

Our last full day in Europe- it is bitter sweet. We slept in a bit and then went out exploring Dublin a bit more. Stopped at a few pubs and went to an area of the city we had not seen yet.

Our hostel looked like a barracks.....

.... so for privacy we hung our towels up.. no one likes waking up to someone staring at you.

All of the pubs have outside seating, its entertaining to people watch.

I think the second time around we loved Dublin a lot more. When we first arrived we were very jet-lagged and I was not feeling so well. This time we enjoyed the atmosphere and everything the city has to offer much more!
Very talented musicians. And this song especially is very important to us <3

We had an amazing time in every city we went. THANK YOU EUROPE! <3

Rome, Naples, Pompeii OH MY!

My course has been completed and I decided I needed to get out of Barcelona for a bit, and on top of my list was Rome.  I decided to take a 3 night, 4-day trip by myself to discover the ancient city. After traveling to London and with everything that I would have done differently, I now know how to pack and travel lightly.  I know how the airport functions and that I do not need to be there 2 hours before, like O’Hare.  So everything went smoothly on my trip to Rome.  No glitches!  That was feat and I was so happy about it. So I arrived in Rome on Monday, September 3 @ 10am.  I made it to my hostel and everything went smoothly.  I decided I wanted to go see the Colosseum first since it was nice out and I would be mainly outside when I was touring it.  It was OUTSTANDING.  I cannot believe that I was walking around the inside of the Colosseum.  Only about 30% of the building remains, meaning that this was a HUGE buildi...

The REAL beginning of my year in Barcelona

Saying good-bye to Anne in London was very difficult, we had had such an amazing weekend and I did not want to go back to Barcelona.  The flight went smoothly, I knew not to make the same mistake with trying to get on Ryanair with two bags; I just checked it right away.  I then took the Aerobus back to the city center and grabbed a cab to the new apartment.  The apartment was not exactly what I was imagining or predicted; it was quite a distance away from the city and it was a host situation. Maria was the host, meaning we lived with her and not that she was just the landlord.  At first I thought it was not at all the situation I wanted and that I wanted my own apartment to have freedom to do whatever.  Well I was proven wrong when I was in Barcelona for four nights by myself; Maria turned out to be a great friend and kept me sane.  It was a blessing to have someone around that could help me get around the city and to talk to.  Maria does not kno...

The Perfect Last Trip....

October 31, 2012- I have never spent Halloween any other way than in a costume, however this year is a bit different. My last trip in Europe was Portugal.  My awesome roommate Nic is Portuguese and her grandma was visiting their family home in Coimbra.  So Nic invited me to visit her grandma and family in Portugal for a few days to end my time in Europe.  It turned out to be the most beautiful place I had visited my entire time in Europe and I felt very welcomed by Nic’s entire family. (Minha's house is the one with the red roof) The journey to Nic’s small town was going to be a challenge; there was no real easy way to get there.  The town is Sao Frutuoso and has a very small population, however there is a bar!  So that is a plus.  We started our trip by flying to Porto and then took two trains, a cab and then a bus to the town.  Nic’s grandma, Minha was very excited and was standing outside waiting for us to arrive along with her...
