I turned 33 while in Malaysia! If you would have asked me what I thought I would be doing on my 33rd birthday, celebrating in the hill country of Malaysia would be the farthest from my mind.
But that is exactly what I got to do!! And it was amazing! We decided to take a bus to the hill country to explore a different side of Malaysia. I must has it was a nice change from the hustle and bustle of major busy cities.
Cameron Highlands are located approximately 3 hours north of Kuala Lumpur. Their main attraction are tea plantation and strawberry farms. Now this may not sound very exciting; but it was beautiful sights and we had a great time exploring the small town of Tanah Ranah.

The hostel we stayed at was perfect location and of course we grabbed some Asia food for dinner and a couple beers with a new friend we made on the bus trip to the highlands.
I am on a soup kick- so delicious
I had a TomYum noodle soup and it was divine. Cameron Highlands are a cooler temperature and soup was perfect! We then found the only bar in the city; which so happened to also be a country bar; and had a few buckets of beer.

The next morning we got up early to go on a tour of a butterfly garden, insect/reptile farm, strawberry farm, bee farm and tea plantation.
Malaysia's butterfly was about 5 inches long!
Everything was very interesting, but I enjoyed the tea plantation the best. It provide excellent views of the hillside as well as tea and desserts. I had the lychee-strawberry tea and coconut banana bread; DELICIOUS!

The next day we returned back to Kuala Lumpur and wanted to explore the night markets and Petronas Twin Towers. The towers were incredible! At night they shown brightly and looked flawless.

This is their style of a BBQ-all of the food is skewed and you just choose what you want!

We went to the night market and gauked at all the street food, fruit and entertainment. I once again had TomYum soup. I think I am addicted!

We called in a night around 11pm because we had a 6am flight to our next country- CAMBODIA!

Rome, Naples, Pompeii OH MY!

My course has been completed and I decided I needed to get out of Barcelona for a bit, and on top of my list was Rome.  I decided to take a 3 night, 4-day trip by myself to discover the ancient city. After traveling to London and with everything that I would have done differently, I now know how to pack and travel lightly.  I know how the airport functions and that I do not need to be there 2 hours before, like O’Hare.  So everything went smoothly on my trip to Rome.  No glitches!  That was feat and I was so happy about it. So I arrived in Rome on Monday, September 3 @ 10am.  I made it to my hostel and everything went smoothly.  I decided I wanted to go see the Colosseum first since it was nice out and I would be mainly outside when I was touring it.  It was OUTSTANDING.  I cannot believe that I was walking around the inside of the Colosseum.  Only about 30% of the building remains, meaning that this was a HUGE buildi...

Lord grant me patience.

How long can you wait until you can’t wait any longer?   I am at that breaking point.   I have the feeling of dread pulling me one way in my current lifestyle and the feeling of excitement and anticipation pulling me the other way.   As July comes near nervousness is thrown in the mixture.   Soon even I will not be able to recognize my own life, things are under major reconstruction. The REAL beginning of my year in Barcelona

Saying good-bye to Anne in London was very difficult, we had had such an amazing weekend and I did not want to go back to Barcelona.  The flight went smoothly, I knew not to make the same mistake with trying to get on Ryanair with two bags; I just checked it right away.  I then took the Aerobus back to the city center and grabbed a cab to the new apartment.  The apartment was not exactly what I was imagining or predicted; it was quite a distance away from the city and it was a host situation. Maria was the host, meaning we lived with her and not that she was just the landlord.  At first I thought it was not at all the situation I wanted and that I wanted my own apartment to have freedom to do whatever.  Well I was proven wrong when I was in Barcelona for four nights by myself; Maria turned out to be a great friend and kept me sane.  It was a blessing to have someone around that could help me get around the city and to talk to.  Maria does not kno...
